Named after the Hero of Plevna, Gazi Osman Pasha, our university was established by Law No. 3837 dated 03.07.1992, amending the Decree Law on the Organization of Higher Education Institutions. With the law numbered 7141, which came into force on May 18, 2018, the name of our university was changed to "Tokat Gaziosmanpaşa University."
Upon its establishment, the university incorporated the Faculty of Agriculture, which was founded on 01.11.1992 and was initially affiliated with Cumhuriyet University, along with the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, Niksar Vocational School, Tokat Vocational School, Zile Vocational School, Erbaa Institute of Natural and Applied Sciences, and the Institute of Social Sciences.
Tokat Gaziosmanpaşa University operates in the Taşlıçiftlik Campus, located 9 km from the center of Tokat on the Tokat-Turhal highway, the Ali Şevki Erek Campus in the city center, and in 8 districts.
The faculties at our university, in order of establishment, include the Faculty of Agriculture, Faculty of Arts and Sciences, Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Education, Faculty of Engineering and Architecture, Faculty of Fine Arts, Faculty of Dentistry, Faculty of Islamic Sciences, Faculty of Law, Faculty of Health Sciences, Faculty of Pharmacy, Faculty of Social and Human Sciences in Erbaa, Faculty of Health Sciences in Erbaa, Faculty of Sports Sciences, Faculty of Applied Sciences in Turhal, and Faculty of Applied Sciences in Niksar. There is also a Graduate Education Institute for postgraduate studies. Additionally, there are the School of Foreign Languages, Zile Dinçerler School of Tourism and Hotel Management, State Conservatory, Vocational School of Justice, Almus Vocational School, Artova Vocational School, Erbaa Vocational School, Erbaa School of Health Services, Pazar Vocational School, Niksar Vocational School, Reşadiye Vocational School, Tokat Vocational School, Tokat School of Health Services, Turhal Vocational School, Zile Vocational School, and Turhal School of Health Services.
The University has nearly 35,000 students. Education is provided in 120 associate degree programs, 79 undergraduate programs, 85 master's programs, and 37 doctoral programs. We have 1,533 academic staff and 2,055 administrative staff. The academic year consists of two semesters.
