Established in 1996 under the leadership of Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who was the Mayor of Istanbul at the time, TURGEV (Turkey Youth and Education Service Foundation) originally began its activities in Istanbul under the name Istanbul Youth and Education Service Foundation (ISEGEV). In 2012, with the aim of providing services nationwide, it changed its name to TÜRGEV.
Starting with a dormitory in Istanbul in 1996, by 2018, it expanded its services to 63 dormitories in 32 cities, serving female students.
TURGEV aims to nurture young individuals who are knowledgeable, inquisitive, questioning, learning, productive, and entrepreneurial. It continues its activities nationwide with 9006 students and 2005 graduates.
Initially operating with higher education dormitories, the foundation later expanded its service area by opening secondary education dormitories, kindergartens, and primary education schools. Special Palet Education Institutions, which started service with classes for ages 3-6 in a single branch in 2011, now provides Montessori education up to grades 1-2-3-4 in two campuses in Umraniye Tepeustu, and is one of the few institutions with membership in the American Montessori Society (AMS).
