Tekirdağ Namık Kemal University was established by the law numbered 5467, published in the Official Gazette dated March 17, 2006, and numbered 26111. With this law, the Faculty of Agriculture, Çorlu Faculty of Engineering, School of Health, Tekirdağ Vocational School, Çorlu Vocational School, Çerkezköy Vocational School, Hayrabolu Vocational School, Malkara Vocational School, Marmara Ereğlisi Vocational School, Muratlı Vocational School, Saray Vocational School, and Şarköy Vocational School, which were previously affiliated with Trakya University, were transferred to Tekirdağ Namık Kemal University.
The same law also established the Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Science and Letters, Institute of Science, Institute of Social Sciences, and Institute of Health Sciences, along with the Departments of Atatürk Principles and History of Revolution, Turkish Language, Foreign Languages, Fine Arts, and Physical Education under the Rectorate. On May 23, 2008, Tekirdağ Vocational School was divided into the Technical Sciences Vocational School and the Social Sciences Vocational School. The Vocational School of Health Services was established on April 15, 2009, and with the establishment of the Maritime Vocational School last year, the number of vocational schools increased to 12. The establishment of the School of Foreign Languages and the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences was decided by the Council of Ministers on February 2, 2009. The Faculty of Fine Arts, Design, and Architecture was established by the Council of Ministers on June 7, 2010. The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine was established by the Council of Ministers on June 23, 2012, and the School of Physical Education and Sports was established. In 2021, the School of Physical Education and Sports was transformed into the Faculty of Sports Sciences. The Faculty of Theology was established by the Council of Ministers on August 4, 2012. The Faculty of Law was established by the Council of Ministers on August 27, 2015, and the Faculty of Dentistry was established by the Council of Ministers on March 11, 2017. Today, our university has a total of 11 faculties and 2 schools.
