Ordu University was established with Law No. 5467, which came into force by being published in the Official Gazette dated March 17, 2006. Although our university is young, it has accumulated a wealth of experience due to the successful and reputable academic units of two major universities coming together.
Ordu University was established by combining various successful and respected academic units of two major universities: the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences in Ünye, the Faculty of Marine Sciences in Fatsa, the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, the School of Health, and the Vocational School in Mesudiye from Ondokuz Mayıs University, and the Faculty of Agriculture and the Vocational School from Karadeniz Technical University. Later, the identity of Ordu University was further enriched with the addition of the Faculties of Medicine, Fine Arts, Dentistry, and Education; the Institutes of Science, Social Sciences, and Health Sciences; the State Conservatory; the Schools of Physical Education and Sports, and Tourism and Hotel Management; as well as Vocational Schools in Fatsa, Ulubey, Akkuş, Aybastı, and İkizce.
