Afyon Kocatepe University started its education and training activities on November 10, 1992. Before the start of the 1993-1994 academic year, Vocational Schools were opened in the districts of Dinar, Emirdağ, Sandıklı, and Şuhut in the province of Afyonkarahisar with the permission of the Council of Higher Education. In the academic year 1994-1995, Vocational Schools were opened in the Çay and İscehisar districts of Afyonkarahisar. In the 1995-1996 academic year, Sultandağı Vocational School was opened. In the academic year 1996-1997, in addition to the Veterinary Faculty, the Afyonkarahisar Health Vocational School was opened. In 1998, the Faculty of Medicine was opened in Afyonkarahisar. In 1999, the State Conservatory was established in Afyonkarahisar, and in 2004, the School of Foreign Languages was founded. As of today, Afyon Kocatepe University continues its education and training with 13 faculties, 3 institutes, 3 vocational schools, 1 state conservatory, and 14 vocational schools.
