Istanbul Topkapı University was established on April 21, 2009, by a decree of the Council of Ministers as a foundation vocational school, initially operating under the name Plato Vocational School. Subsequently, to train professionals in various fields and offer undergraduate education, Istanbul Ayvansaray University was founded by the Ayvansaray Education Foundation on November 16, 2016. This institution was officially recognized under Law No. 6761, and Plato Vocational School was incorporated into Istanbul Ayvansaray University in 2016. Initially starting with four departments, the educational services expanded to over 60 programs by 2016, achieving high occupancy rates and becoming one of the most preferred foundation universities.
In pursuit of mission differentiation, renewal, and internationalization, Istanbul Ayvansaray University changed its name to Istanbul Topkapı University on March 11, 2022, under Law No. 7382. The educational activities, which began in a single building in 2009, have expanded to five different campuses over approximately 100,000 square meters as of 2022.
Istanbul Topkapı University comprises the Faculty of Fine Arts, Design and Architecture, Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Economics, Administrative and Social Sciences, Faculty of Sports Sciences, Faculty of Health Sciences, Graduate Education Institute, and Plato Vocational School. Currently, the university offers 25 master's and doctoral programs, 35 undergraduate programs, and 56 associate degree programs.
The campuses are distributed as follows:
- Kazlıçeşme: Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Economics, Administrative and Social Sciences, Plato Vocational School, and Graduate Education Institute.
- Balat: Faculty of Fine Arts, Design and Architecture.
- Şişli: Department of Gastronomy and Culinary Arts, and Culinary Program.
- Levent: Faculty of Sports Sciences.
- Yenibosna: Distance Education Center.
The university aims to provide a comprehensive and diverse educational experience, preparing students to excel in their respective fields through high-quality education and training.
